About Helena Mumford
Helena undertook a combined Arts-Law degree at the University of Queensland. In 1988 Helena completed the twelve months Diploma of Legal Practice at Queensland University of Technology.
Initially working in commercial and property law at the Brisbane legal firm of Cannon & Peterson, Helena accepted a position as Associate with legal firm Dobbyn & Partners. After a brief period working in Mooloolaba, Helena established the legal firm of Elias Mumford in 1991 with her husband Andrew. With two offices, in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, Helena has worked consistently providing legal services for in excess of 25 years in the areas of Wills & Estates, Commercial Law and Family Law.
For many years Helena represented large transport corporations such as TNT, North Queensland Express and Ansett in recovery actions. As Duty Lawyer for the Petrie Magistrates Court, Helena provided legal representation on a frequent and regular basis in the areas of Children’s Court, Traffic Offences and in Criminal matters. She has held pro bono positions as Lawyer on behalf of the Queensland Amateur Fencing Association and Rotary. Helena has undertaken substantial pro-bono work within our community over two decades of legal practice. In 2010 Helena completed qualifications as a Dispute Resolution Practitioner in Family Law. In 2014 Helena became a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Today, Helena’s primary focus is on managing the firm of Mumfords and making it a great firm to work for and do business with. She enjoys working together with the outstanding legal minds at Mumfords and delivering extraordinary results to Mumford’s clients.
Helena provides advice and services primarily in the area of Wills & Estates, Business Law and Family Law and brings to each matter an understanding of the many diverse aspects of law which impact on complex cases.
Helena is able to offer assistance with the German language and limited assistance with the Dutch language.
Helena has been a resident of the Sunshine Coast since 1990 and is married with two adult children. Both Helena’s children, Blake and Edward, have been staff members at Mumfords when completing their gap year before university and both continue to act as consultants on tricky IT issues. Helena’s husband, Andrew, is also a Solicitor at Mumfords.
Helena’s interests are architecture, classical music, Andrew’s dry sense of humour and enjoying his cooking too much!
